New "Raveling Potential" Test for Pervious Concrete

Submit A Comment | View Comments

It's official!  The new ASTM test for determining the raveling potential of a pervious concrete mixure has been published as C 1747-11.  You can download a copy here.

If you're not familiar with the test, it has been discussed in previous blog posts here and here, and this article here. Used properly, this test gives concrete producers a tool to compare proposed mixture proportions or raw materials to understand the impact on relative raveling potential. For today, it is not a test that should be used for acceptance or even mixture qualification.  It's just a tool to help the concrete producer formulate the best mixture possible.
