The four elements of artistic expression: color, pattern, texture, and shape are used to design concrete surfaces. Using exposed aggregates can create color, pattern, and texture on a concrete surface. There are different techniques for creating exposed aggregate surfaces and these include: seeded method, washed method, and mechanical abrasion methods (sandblasting, water blasting, and shotblasting).
This presentation, Color, Pattern and Texture: A Concrete Surface Design System, was presented by Scott Balch, Texas Bomanite, at the ACI Spring 2012 Convention. A free Web Session of this presentation is available here or by visiting ACI Web Sessions.
