It’s been a busy month! Our first order of business was to select this year’s Polished Concrete Awards winners. From a fitness center to upscale residences to a concrete hearth, this year’s award winners are showing how polished concrete continues to transcend industrial and warehouse floors to create beautiful, decorative surfaces in both retail and residential settings. We even had to create an additional “Innovation” category to honor a vertical project featuring ground and polished exterior precast concrete walls. (Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about industrial and institutional floors!)

Click here to see all 12 winners, presented in nine categories, plus our Readers’ Choice winner. (Thank you to the 2200+ website visitors who voted!)

Also, if you go to the International Concrete Polishing & Staining Conference (ICPSC) in Duluth, Ga., next week, please attend our awards ceremony on Thursday evening, Sept. 12, which will take place at the conference's welcome reception. We will recognize all of the winning entries and present the awards to the contractors who are present. The ICPSC is the sponsor of our polished concrete awards program.

Finally, mark Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, on your calendars. Concrete Surfaces magazine is again hosting the Polishing Luncheon & Forum at World of Concrete in Las Vegas, and we're working to provide an engaging discussion that will leave attendees with much food for thought and many ideas to help improve your business. The theme is No Good Deed Should Go Unpaid. Our speakers will discuss how to set accurate bids, and how to get paid for work that wasn’t in the contract documents. ICPSC is the event sponsor. Look for more information and updates in the October and December issues of Concrete Surfaces, and at
