Taking 200,000 pounds of dynamite,Caltrans has finally completed their demolition of the old eastern span of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco. The implosion landed in the water and was strategically choreographed to ensure that every safety measure was met. The implosion cost $20 million and was necessary for the eastern span of the bridge that was severely damaged by the 1980 Loma Prieta earthquake. This is just one of 20 more piers that needs to be removed.
