Infrastructure and transportation projects can no longer face delay as a result of Congress not fully funding the Highway Transportation Bill. The CEO of Caterpillar Inc., Doug Oberhelman argues that the problems facing infrastrucutre have gotten worse and can no longer work around the continued delays and uncertainty that come with not finding a solution to America’s aging infrastructure crisis. Oberhelman argues that investing in infrastructure projects is a catalyst for economic strength and that America is stuck in a continuous cycle of lacking adequate funds to meet our nation’s infrastructure needs. He urges Congress to come up with a long-term solution to funding the Highway Trust Fund bill, instead of continued short-term solutions.
Infrastructure is a key component of any competitiveness measure, and by any measure the United States is falling far behind.
