A recent installation by artist and journeyman carpenter Linda Wysong in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum, Washington, DC, involved some 40 workers and 50 tons of modular formwork. "Moving Circles--Art at Work" was a performance sculpture--an art form in which the assembly work becomes part of the art experience. All-steel and steel-and-plywood panels and accessories were erected by carpenters, laborers, iron-workers, and operating engineers in three large concentric circles as museum visitors watched from the second-floor arcades.
