Wayne Brothers, Inc. received the prestigious Silver Safety Award at the annual NC DOL Safety Achievement Award ceremony, held on Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charlotte. Attending the event from Wayne Brothers, Inc. was Vice President of Preconstruction, Robert Phillips, and Safety Director, Jason Sisk. The criteria for the award is a 0 fatality rate and maintenance of an incident rate of at least 50% below the average for the applicable industry group, and is based on the number of lost work days incurred.
Sisk accepted the Silver Safety Award for Wayne Brothers. "The prevention of serious workplace accidents on construction jobsites, particularly when doing elevated or vertical work, is a pressing concern in heavy construction. Wayne Brothers has implemented strenuous OSHA approved training and personal protection equipment regulations and safety inspections on its job sites. Our goal for this fiscal year is absolutely no accidents", explained Sisk.
Cherie Berry, Department of Labor Commissioner, was the keynote Speaker at the event, and Eursula Joyner, Department of Labor Safety Awards Coordinator, presented the awards to the participants who represented multiple business categories.
Phillips commented after receiving the award, "This award proves that, safely exceeding expectations, is more than just a motto for Wayne Brothers".
