Back by popular demand, the fourth-annual Women in Concrete Luncheon and Forum-co-hosted by Concrete Construction and The Concrete Producer magazines-will take place today at 12 p.m. in room S219. The two-hour program brings together female professionals from all segments of the concrete construction industry, providing them with a unique opportunity to connect with peers and gain insights into the challenges-and advantages-specific to women in the industry.
This year, the program consists of a panel of women discussing hot industry trends. Tanya Wattenburg Komas from California State University, Chico, will talk about repairing the future by looking at a historic past. Shellie Rigsby, owner of Acanthus/Concrete Stain Designs, will talk about the creative opportunities in decorative concrete. Julie Babb Smith of FIGG Engineering Group will speak about sustainability and the I-35W bridge project. It will be followed by an open question period.
