MAPEI is starting off the NASCAR 2009 season as an associate sponsor of the Robby Gordon Motorsports No. 7 Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race being held at the Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, February 15. "We are excited to be sponsoring the RGM team again this year," says Steven Day, operational marketing manager for MAPEI. "With RGM taking on the new Toyota Camry, we look forward to a great season with Robby and his crew."
MAPEI will be the coprimary sponsor of Gordon's car in three NSCS races this year:
- The Coke Zero 400 (Firecracker 400) in Daytona, Fla., on July 4, 2009
- The Kansas 400 in Kansas City, Kan., on October 4, 2009
- The Dickies 500 in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 8, 2009
At these venues, race goers will see the MAPEI logo on the hood of the No. 7 car. MAPEI will also serve as an associate sponsor at six other races in addition to the Daytona 500 on February 15 - Las Vegas (3/1/09), Phoenix (4/18/09), Sonoma (6/21/09), Loudon (6/28/09), Watkins Glen (8/9/09), and Atlanta (9/6/09). Robby Gordon comments on the 2009 sponsorship: "MAPEI has been part of our team for three years now, and we are very excited to have them back for 2009. We look forward to giving their customers an entertaining time at the races throughout the year."
Historically, NASCAR racing has its roots in Southern states such as North Carolina, Georgia and Florida (the current headquarters of NASCAR). Today it has become the United States' second most popular form of sports entertainment, with more than 1500 races taking place at over 100 tracks in 39 states, Canada and Mexico each year. "MAPEI sees its sponsorship of Robby Gordon Motorsports as a way to support this extremely well-liked American pastime that is championed by many people in our industry, and it allows us to promote our brand to a multitude of customers," Day says. "It helps us let everyone know that MAPEI has 'Technology You Can Build On!'"
