The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has elected Thomas D. Verti as president of the Institute, Luis E. García as Vice President, and Kenneth B. Bondy, S.K. Ghosh, Myles A. “Tony” Murray, and Eldon G. Tipping as directors to the board of direction at its Spring meeting.
Verti, a 35-year veteran in concrete construction, is president of Charles Pankow Builders, Ltd., Pasadena, Calif., an industry leader in design-build project delivery and a major innovator of concrete construction methodologies.
Garcia, a partner and president of Proyectos y Diseños Ltda., a structural engineering consulting firm in Bogotá, Colombia, that he founded in 1980, has been chair and member of a number of ACI committees.
Bondy has been involved in the design and construction of concrete building structures for 43 years, specializing in post-tensioned concrete and the strengthening of existing buildings using externally applied post-tensioned tendons.
Ghosh heads his own consulting practice, S.K. Ghosh Associates, Inc., in Palatine, Ill., and Laguna Niguel, Calif. He has received the Concrete Research Council's Arthur J. Boase Award this year and ACI's Alfred E. Lindau Award in 2004 and Structural Research Award in 1992.
Murray is the founder and chair of Restruction Corp., Sedalia, Colo., a construction company specializing in the structural repair of parking structures, bridges, dams, buildings, and historical buildings throughout the United States.
Tipping, president of Structural Services, Inc. (SSI), Richardson, Texas, has more than 30 years of experience in the design and construction of concrete floors and was recently selected by Concrete Construction magazine as one of the 10 most influential people in the concrete industry.
