Sustainable concrete goes to Norway

Presented by the Norwegian Concrete Association, the International Conference on Sustainability in the Cement and Concrete Industry will take place September 16–19, 2007 at the Radisson SAS Lillehammer Hotel, Lillehammer, Norway. The conference will present the latest available information that will ensure “sustainability in the cement and concrete industry.” The four-day event will include topics such as reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, health issues related to the production and use of cement and concrete, new possibilities for concrete in a more sustainable society, and more. In addition, participants will be able to tour the new Concrete Innovation Centre in Trondheim, which is conducting research on new concrete technologies, and take a tour of Norcem Brevik Cement Plant. Deere sponsors students

John Deere Construction & Forestry Co. is sponsoring a team of high school students in the Construction Challenge—a unique event designed to attract the best young people in the construction industry in professions ranging from manufacturing to in-the-field careers. Developed by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) in partnership with Destination ImagiNation Inc., the Construction Challenge focuses on awareness of construction-related jobs, construction equipment and manufacturing, and infrastructure awareness.

The Construction Challenge includes six regional events around the United States starting in January 2008. Winning teams will qualify to participate in the finals during AEM's international CONEXPO-CON/AGG exposition in March held in Las Vegas. The deadline for teams to register is December 3, 2007. CC100 rankings

In this year's CC100, Structural Group's revenue figures were incorrectly reported. In 2005, the company grossed $210,000,000 while in 2006 it earned $318,697,112. This indicates growth, rather than a loss in the past year.
