The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) is seeking abstracts for its 2008 Concrete Technology Forum: Focus on Sustainable Development scheduled for May 20–22, 2008 in Denver. As its third annual event, the symposium will bring researchers and practitioners together to discuss the latest advances, technical knowledge, continuing research, tools, and solutions for concrete and sustainable development.
Suggested topics include pervious concrete systems, concrete's impact on urban heat islands, the carbon footprint of concrete, sustainable development initiatives, and optimizing recycled content. For consideration, submit your presentation by Friday, October 26, 2007 at www.concretetechnologyforum.org.
In other news, the NRMCA has introduced another series of information, promotional brochures created to call attention to new and continuing benefits of concrete. Self-Consolidating Concrete, a four-page brochure, informs contractors, specifiers, engineers, architects, and their clients about self-consolidating concrete and its properties and uses.
