The world’s second largest construction company, Japan’s Komatsu, has been working on finding ways to fill the gaps that are occurring as their population is aging.
As Japan prepares for the 2020 Olympics, they are faced with a labor shortage which experts believe will create some serious problems. To combat this problem, Komatsu is starting to create a new service called Smart Construction. The service is a team of robotic vehicles that “scoops rock and pushes dirt without a human behind the wheel.” The service is guided by drones which are built by Skywatch, an American startup. This is part of a growing trend of drones being used in the construction industry.
