The future of the construction industry may just be in technology—if the traditionally risk-averse industry allows that to happen. However, some technological innovations are already in place such as the use of drones on high-profile building projects.
The future of concrete construction may also take a technological turn through 3D printing. With more people predicted to need housing in the future, 3D concrete printing offers a quick solution.
Construction firm Skanska's director of innovation Rob Francis has high for this innovation:
"3D concrete printing, when combined with a type of mobile prefabrication centre, has the potential to reduce the time needed to create complex elements of buildings from weeks to hours. We expect to achieve a level of quality and efficiency which has never been seen before in construction."
