Rockford, Michigan's Rockford School needed to install a multi-purpose athletic field. However they could not install retaining walls for construction due to the water tower, the telephone transfer tower and the related electrical power infrastructure did not allow for the necessary set back room.
Thomas Richael writes about their solution using Hydromedia Pervious Concrete as back fill for the retaining wall:
Hydromedia allowed for a 50% reduction in the excavation required for the installation of the wall. This eliminated the need to move any of the structures on top of the hill. The Hydromedia was first placed straight out of the chute. The excavated area was filled and the cores of the retaining wall block were also filled with the Hydromedia Pervious Concrete. Once the wall was too high, placement was completed with a Bobcat and finally an excavator.
