The annual state-by-state look at the environment around the construction industry has been released. The Building America: The Merit Shop Scorecard assesses and ranks state-specific information on the construction industry. An overall ranking of 1-51 is determined using the combined ranking in all seven criteria.
Each state was assessed on the following criteria: PLA mandates, prevailing wage, right to work, public-private partnerships, workforce development, career and technical education, and overall job growth rate.
The state that ranked the highest was Arizona, while New Mexico ranked the lowest.
