For more than 85 years the construction industry has relied on the “Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures” as a guide to applications, methods and materials. Now this information is also available in a self-paced online course.
The Portland Cement Association (PCA) has developed Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures: The Course to provide fundamental yet practical concrete knowledge. The course consists of 16 modules covering concrete materials; placing, finishing, and curing; quality control tests; and hot and cold weather concreting. Students may elect to take the entire course or sign up just for the modules most relevant to their jobs. It addresses the essentials on freshly mixed and hardened concrete including cements, supplementary cementing materials, aggregates, admixtures, air-entrainment, mixture proportioning, batching, curing, hotand cold weather concreting, high-performance concrete, and control tests for quality concrete. In addition, newer topics such as sustainability, reinforcement, the properties of concrete, and durability will be covered. For more information or to order, visit www.cement.org/designandcontrol.
