The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) has launched two web-based instructional modules that provide best practice training for constructing smooth concrete pavements and handling aggregates for concrete paving.
Developed by ACPA and sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration, the courses are offered free of charge to participants in highway and heavy construction. They are ideal for concrete paving contractors, public agency personnel, consulting engineers, and others involved in construction management or concrete pavement project delivery.
The courses provide illustrated presentations by civil engineers, field interviews with contractors and other experts, videos, photos, and animations that illustrate process steps or actions related to subject matter. Successful completion allows participants to produce a certificate of completion for company compliance requirements, or earn professional development hours (PDHs) where allowable by local licensing organizations.
For more information and to register for the courses, go to http://acpa.scholarlab.com. After registering, use the coupon code “pavement1” to take the course at no cost.

The association also launched WikiPave, a free resource that's open to anyone with access to the Internet. The site's content development and editing rights are limited to ACPA employees, members, and affiliates.
