This year brought new beginnings for the International Concrete Polishing & Staining Conference (ICPSC). The show headed to Vegas for the first time, taking place Feb. 2, at the Las Vegas Convention Center and in conjunction with World of Concrete (WOC).

“It’s a great idea to have the conference at WOC,” says Chris Wright of Durable Surfaces. “We attend WOC every year because it is a great time of year for us and we can send the most people. Now we can have the most people attend the ICPSC conference, too.”

Polished concrete contractors who registered for ICPSC 2015 attended a full day of educational seminars and networking activities in the South Hall conference rooms — including an industry panel discussion on collecting job data and documenting your work to improve your operations, and a welcome reception that took place Monday evening. During the reception, Concrete Surfaces magazine presented the winners of its annual Polished Concrete Awards.

Another new development this year: ICPSC asked attendees to take a 10- to 15-question quiz at the end of each seminar. “It helps attendees pay a little more attention and heightens the most important points,” says Jason Griffasi, chief information officer at ICPSC. “And it is also the next step to certification.”

ICPSC attendees also had the opportunity to watch on-slab demonstrations and presentations held by ICPSC exhibitors who also had WOC booths. Participating booths included:

  • Natural Stone Solutions; on-slab demo
  • Werkmaster; on-slab demo
  • Runyon Surface Prep; on-slab demo
  • Concrete Polishing Association of America (CPAA); on-slab demo/presentation
  • Vexcon Chemicals; on-slab demo/presentation

Now entering its eighth year, ICPSC is known as the premiere show for concrete polishing contractors. The conference is targeted at polishing contractors; those looking to diversify such as flooring, resurfacing, and coatings contractors; and designers, specification writers, architects, and engineers.
