For the second year running, Butterfield Color Inc. was selected as both the Attendees’ Choice and the Experts’ Choice for the best booth in the Decorative Pavilion at World of Concrete 2014. Butterfield Color, headquartered in Aurora, Ill., manufactures a complete line of decorative products used for coloring, texturing, sealing, staining, and stamping concrete. The company’s 30x35-foot exhibit area, located adjacent to the Pavilion entrance, provided ample space to showcase the breadth of its product offerings.
A vertical plywood backdrop along two sides displayed large samples of Butterfield’s integral and shake-on hardener colors, as well as form liners and stamping tools. For the main booth area, Butterfield created a patio space that served as a practical demonstration of its products. Low curving walls that looked like masonry were cast in place using decorative form liners. Flatwork hinted at the range of colors and textures possible with different stains and pattern stamping tools. Decorative concrete countertops, benches, and a fire pit attracted visitors and invited them to settle in.
One of the most eye-catching elements of the Butterfield exhibit was an art piece that, when viewed from the proper angle, produced an uncanny 3D effect. What was actually a solid concrete slab appeared to be a narrow walkway labeled “Butterfield Color” spanning over open air. It seemed that few visitors to the booth could resist taking advantage of that photo opportunity.
