The foam blocks were anchored to the slab with rebar pins drilled and epoxied into the concrete. Spray adhesive was used to glue the many pieces together.

The combined efforts of students, faculty, and volunteers decided on an East Meets West theme, featuring iconic representations of the Golden Gate and Brooklyn bridges. Students included Steve Aguilar, Melanie and Morgan Dennis, Steve Orellana, and Sophia Salazar.

Mike Eastergard, one of the volunteers, precut polystyrene shapes, which students assembled and anchored to the concrete pad to provide the fundamental shape for each bridge. Students then used trowels to build the thickness of the cementitious material to approximately 1/4 inch. They added color with a high-velocity, low-pressure spray gun.
