We were charged for a larger weight for rebars than we expected, based on the number of bars delivered and the weight figured in pounds per foot. Why should the steel supplier benefit if the steel weighs more than we were led to believe?
Steel is usually quoted on the basis of price per 100 pounds. The supplier provides an estimate of the total weight that the sums of the lengths will come to. Sometimes it is possible to get a guarantee on total weight, but the practice is not uniformly followed so it is necessary to check the bid for terms and conditions.
