We are general contractors and employ our ounn concretefinishers. We have been instructed by an architect to install quite a quantity of curb under a unit price that was quoted as formed concrete. We question this, however, because we feel thatformed concrete consists of concrete in a wall, foundation, or footing and that a curb is a finished product such as a fioor or sides alk.
It is hard to see how concrete curb could possibly be designated or priced as formed concrete, since a finished surface is an essential requirement. As I'm sure you know, much of the curb being installed these days is not formed at all in the conventional sense, but is laid down and finished continuously by slip forming machines designed for this specific purpose.
