Dubbed "Concrete Super Bowl 95" by its construction team, an incredible 31-day building effort last summer resulted in the placement of 600,108 square feet of concrete slabs--enough concrete to cover nearly 13 football fields. General contractor George Hyman Construction Co. worked at a fast-track pace to complete construction of a new 2-million-square-foot training center at the Pensacola Naval Air Station on a tight 18-month schedule.

Three concrete pumps and multiple crew shifts were needed to place 380,127 square feet of elevated slabs and 219,981 square feet of slab on grade in just 31 days. A placing crew of about 18 men and a finishing crew of about six men completed an average of 19,358 square feet per day.
