Constricted spacing for reinforcement, combined with the opportunity to fabricate the steel almost identically for 500 tree-shaped beam-slab-column units, led to the decision to use custom-fabricated welded wire fabric. The job was a 14-story concrete structure of approximately 400,000 square feet for downtown Edmonton. Welded wire fabric was manufactured and bent at the plant to fit the job requirements. All steel for a single tree was then assembled into a single package, carefully labeled and shipped to the site.
