Often floor specifiers use F-numbers to specify tolerances for floor flatness and levelness. The flatness F-number controls waviness. It is mainly affected by finishing technique. The levelness F-number controls deviation from horizontal plane, and depends on accuracy of formwork setting and initial strikeoff. Three summaries are given for commonly specified floors of different quality. They illustrate for each type of floor typical use, typical specification requirements, typical forming and strikeoff requirements and cost factors, and typical finishing procedures and cost factors.
