Ten curved tilt-up sandwich panels were used to construct a 300,000-square-foot apparel distribution center in Troy, Ohio. Designed and built by The Haskell Company, Jacksonville, Fla., the curved panels are located at four of the facility's six corners. Two of the four corners each have three 13x42-foot panels. The other two corners were each assembled with two 8x38-foot panels. Jim McFarlane, Haskell's superintendent, says the panels were poured and erected from August to November 1992. Haskell did the forming, insulation, and rebar work. Piqua Concrete Co., Piqua, Ohio, supplied the approximately 14,000 cubic yards of concrete needed for the project. The walls were placed and finished by Lithko Contracting Inc., Hamilton, Ohio.
