The Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. is a sports and entertainment facility currently under construction. The Meadowlands Stadium is the future home of the New York Giants and New York Jets NFL teams and is one of the main attractions for the area. Husqvarna Soff-Cut Ultra Early Entry saws were selected to help complete certain elements of the project.
A total of more than 600,000 square feet of concrete will make up the sidewalks that encircle the stadium.
Skanska Construction is the general contractor on this project and chose a local subcontractor, Commodore Construction Group, to cut the sidewalks into 20' x 20' slabs to resemble the gridlines on graph paper. To take on such a large project, Commodore chose the Husqvarna Soff-Cut 2000 Ultra Early Entry saw to cut control joints and then chased the joints with decorative scoring using the Husqvarna Soff-Cut 150 D Ultra Early Entry saw.
Andrew Nevener, the Sr. Territory Manager/National Training Manager, said Commodore likes the fact that the saws are very reliable and do not emit much noise or dust. "Using the saw allows the contractor to stay in step with the amount of concrete put in place in a day's time. Placing the control joints on a daily basis is hassle free," Andrew said. He also noted that Commodore had been using the Husqvarna Soff-Cut 390 to cut the beveled edges, which performed well until he introduced them to the 150 D. The Husqvarna Soff-Cut 150 D was better suited for their needs and Commodore was very excited to finish the remaining beveled edges with the 150 D.
