Finishing, texturing, and curing concrete immediately after slipforming keeps work moving on fast-track paving projects. Described here is equipment that follows in the wake of a slipformer, performing these finishing operations minutes after the pavement is laid. Applications include floating, brooming, wire-tine texturing, burlap drag, and applying curing compound or polyethylene sheeting. Texture-cure machines: Traveling behind the slipformer at speeds of up to 170 feet per minute, these multipurpose machines quickly texture concrete surfaces or apply curing compound. Their heavy-duty, steel-truss main frames span the pavement and travel on crawler tracks or flotation tires. Separate attachments that bolt to the main frame perform all texturing and curing operations. The most commonly used texture-cure machine attachments are a texturing carriage and a curing compound spray bar.
