The Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), a nonprofit organization for the advancement of post-tensioned concrete design and construction, has announced the dates for their popular Level One Field Fundamentals of Unbonded Tendons as well as Level Two Inspector Training and Certification of Field Personnel for Unbonded Tendons seminars.
The Field Fundamentals of Unbonded Tendons will be a two-day session and the cost to attend is $310 for PTI members and $350 for nonmembers. This workshop outlines the basic body of knowledge that should be possessed by all personnel involved in the installation and inspection of single strand unbonded post-tensioning systems. Topics included are post-tensioned concrete concepts and theory, use of stressing equipment, post-tensioning components, special requirements for encapsulated systems, barrier cable installation, and installation requirements. This training is of value to installers, inspectors, building officials, engineers, architects, or anyone who would like to know more about unbonded post-tensioning installation.
The Field Fundamentals of Unbonded Tendons course content is pertinent to all types of unbonded post-tensioned construction, including elevated slabs as well as slab-on-ground foundations. The Field Fundamentals of Unbonded Tendons workshop will be given in 13 cities. The dates for Level One are as follows:

The Inspector Training and Certification of Field Personnel for Unbonded Tendons workshop is a two day class which builds on the previous workshop mentioned. It is required that all attendees complete Level One and get at least 70 percent on the exam before moving on to Level Two. The second workshop is designed to expand the knowledge and effectiveness of the inspector in the application and inspection of single strand unbonded post-tensioning systems.
Topics included are inspection procedures, effective installation requirements, goals of post-tensioning, troubleshooting and inspection of repairs, documents and record keeping. The course content is pertinent to all types of unbonded post-tensioned construction, including elevated slabs as well as slab-on-ground foundations. Level Two Post-Tensioning Inspector Certification workshop attendees are required to achieve PTI Level One Certification before participating in this workshop. The cost to PTI members is $325 and the cost to nonmembers is $375. Level Two will take place in four cities. The cities and dates are as follows:

All courses are presented by instructors with extensive hands-on experience in post-tensioning installation. The instructors' in-depth knowledge of real world construction practices will give attendees practical insight into many common installation concerns. PTI's training workshops feature group discussions that allow participants to gain insight into the specific aspects of construction. Certification exams are administered at the completion of each of the classes. Applicants must attend the entire training session to be eligible to take the certification exam. Workshop manuals will be sent to applicants in advance and applicants are encouraged to read the manual prior to the workshop.
