Formed in 1997, SDC, a council of the ACI Foundation, provides to the concrete industry an in-house forum where the concrete industry discusses strategic issues and tactics regarding concrete technology, including support of practical research to the benefit of all. For entrepreneurs, SDC provides a showcase for their technologies and an opportunity to work with concrete industry leaders to find pathways to accelerate technology acceptance.
At SCC Live, SDC’s outreach will focus on self-consolidating concrete (SCC). SDC members have identified SCC as a critical industry technology. The SDC’s SCC Accelerated Technology Implementation team’s goal is to identify obstacles to industry adoption of SCC, formulates strategies to address obstacles, and determines specific tasks to execute strategies.
In this event, SDC members will conduct educational presentations for contractors, demonstrate how research is conducted on the predictions of formwork pressures using SCC cast in place columns and walls, and provide attendee’s live demonstrations of SCC technology. The event includes: Monday educational presentations for contractors, week-long live demonstrations of predictions of formwork pressures using SCC cast in place columns and walls in the Gold Lot, and demonstrations of SCC construction technology.
SDC is recruiting industry involvement in the World of Concrete event. SDC will be holding a 15 minute informational webinar scheduled on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 3 pm eastern time. Contact Denesha Price at firstname.lastname@example.org to register for webinar or for more information about the event.
