World of Concrete, the world's largest trade show devoted to concrete construction is just weeks away! There's lots to see and do at the big event, Feb. 2-5, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. CONCRETE SURFACES Contractor Clinics
Concrete contractors of every variety will have a chance to see manufacturers' products in action at the first CONCRETE SURFACES Contractor Clinics next to the Artistry in Decorative Concrete area in front of South Hall. In addition to live demonstrations, attendees will have a chance to ask questions and to learn more from clinic sponsors.
Exhibitors will have 30 minutes for their presentations, followed by 15 minutes of questions. They will hand out literature and have a chance to present short videos. If you miss the demonstrations at World of Concrete, you can see them after the show at the CONCRETE SURFACES Web site within www.concreteconstruction.net.

Concrete Polishing Luncheon and Forum
Make your reservations now to attend the Concrete Polishing Luncheon and Forum, noon-2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2. The event is hosted by CONCRETE SURFACES magazine and is sponsored by organizers of the International Concrete Polishing & Staining Conference.
Listen to experts in concrete polishing discuss what contractors need to know to grow their businesses. The forum will concentrate on the important topic of concrete polishing specifications?something every concrete polishing contractor is talking about. Confirmed speakers are Lendall Mains, senior vice president, SSA Architecture, Las Vegas; and Rick Smith, vice president, Structural Concrete Inc., Richardson, Texas and Peter Wagner, Portland, Ore.

Artistry in Decorative Concrete
Leading concrete contractors and artisans create amazing masterpieces on a 10x10-foot slab of concrete using stains, color hardeners, stamping, polishing, and other decorative applications. Hosted by CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, this highly informative, compelling event draws a large audience who are entertained as they learn about the uses and techniques for decorative concrete. This takes place throughout the show in Silver parking lot.
Women in Concrete Breakfast & Forum
At the fifth annual Women in Concrete Breakfast & Forum, 8-10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3, key industry leaders will provide a woman's perspectives on "Breaking Down Barriers." Speakers will tell how they got involved in the industry, motivating moments, and how to be a leader in difficult times. The gathering also provides an opportunity for professionals to network.
Presenters will be Susan Lane, Program Manager of Bridges and Transportation Structures at the Portland Cement Association; Kathy Reissig, Marketing Manager, Stone Construction Equipment, and Erin Williams Christie, Environmental Director, Ready Mix USA.
Cost is $105.
Hoover Dam Bypass Tour
Learn how concrete is bringing the impressive Colorado River Bridge project to life. Learn the history and challenges of the Hoover Dam Bypass from the project's contractor and the history of the original Hoover Dam project 75 years ago. A tour of the Hoover Dam Visitor's Center and a special below-the-dam tour are included. Concrete historian Luke Snell will explain the how concrete brought the original Hoover Dam project to life in the 1930s. A box lunch is provided.
Tours are Sunday, Jan. 31, 12:30-5:30 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 5, 1-6 p.m. Buses leave from Door 9 at the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Cost is $105, including lunch.
The Concrete Industry Management (CIM) National Steering Committee (NSC) is again hosting an unreserved auction on Thursday, Feb. 4. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Concrete industry-related items will be auctioned off, with all proceeds benefiting the CIM program.
