Does embedding copper in concrete present problems?
There can be if an admixture with a chloride base is used in the mix. Normally copper can be safely embedded in fresh concrete. No destructive action will occur even when the concrete is kept saturated with moisture. Trouble only arises if leaching brings chlorides into contact with the metal. If an admixture is to be used it must then be selected carefully to avoid the presence of chlorides, especially if the application is to be exposed to moisture.
