What can be done to even out the small bumps we get whenever the slipform machine stops between truck deliveries?
The best thing to do is improve the timing of deliveries and get better coordination of the movement of the slipform machine with respect to those deliveries. In other words, never stop the slipform machine. If deliveries seem to be slowing down the rate of forward movement of the slipform machine should be decreased in anticipation of the imminent concrete shortage. A good operator, with reasonable cooperation from the truckers and plant, can keep his machine moving continuously, albeit at a somewhat varying rate. He should attempt to keep a fairly uniform height of surcharge in front of the screed or extrusion plate.
