Is there a preferred base for a form oil to be used with white cements?
Most reputable suppliers of form oils can offer a 100 percent non-staining type for work with white cements. Safest approach is to evaluate one or two different oils by means of small- scale trial castings to find the one that best suits the job conditions. In general the oils will either be based on a paraffinic or a napthenic crude. The former tend to be slightly lighter in color than the latter although slightly heavier in body; there has been some preference shown for the paraffinic types, but there is at the moment to scientific evidence to support the choice.
