Engineering students at Edinburgh University are attending lectures in a box of reinforced concrete . The structure demonstrates how adaptable concrete can be. All structural members are of site cast reinforced concrete. The foundation is a 35 by 19 1 /2 foot concrete slab. Care was taken with formwork to provide a radial pattern from the form boards to the underside of the structure and upright markings on the stem and the floor slab enclosure. End walls and panels between the frames were finished in sheathing of brown Doussie boarding. Some natural light is admitted through the ceiling windows, but this was kept at a minimum so that the lecture hall could be easily darkened.
