What should be considered in panel forming?

  • Allowance of adequate room for a mixer truck or other source of concrete to move around the panels.
  • Allowance of adequate room for a crane with outriggers to maneuver around the panels.
  • Casting of the panel as close to its final resting place as possible.
  • Casting locations of all corner panels.
  • Erection of the last walk-out panel; the crane will probably have to set the last panel from outside of the building.
  • Check to verify tilt-up details against the contract plans.
  • Ascertain that panels are formed square.
  • Ascertain that additional reinforcing bar is placed as required by the details. Place the proper size bar in the place shown; bars improperly placed or sized can decrease panel strength.
