Q.: Is there any way to minimize or avoid the tremendous amount of cutting necessary to fit welded wire fabric into pavement that has skewed joints?

A.: The Wire Reinforcement Institute reports that one highway department omits the fabric from the end section. The slabs are 27 feet long and are skewed 4 feet in 24 feet. Fabric sheets (6x12-D4.9xD4) 18 feet long are placed midway between the ends of the slabs. The panels are doweled at the joints.
