Sometimes there is excessive spillage from our conveyor belts. We like to load them to capacity so as to move as much concrete as possible but we don't always succeed in carrying it all to the form. How can we achieve a good balance?
ACI Committee 304 says the concrete should not come closer to the edge of the belt than 5 percent of the belt width plus 0.9 inch. Thus, for a 16-inch-wide belt the Committee says that (16 x .05) + 0.9 = 1.7 inches on each edge of the belt should not be loaded.
