Q.: After epoxy-coated bars are sheared isn't it desirable or necessary to provide some kind of protection for the newly exposed ends? If so, can this be done on the job?

A.: It is necessary and it is standard practice to coat them in the rebar coating plant if they are sheared there, or on the job if the bars are cut on the job. An epoxy made for the express purpose of patching or touching up the coated bars is used.
