At CC Live during the 2013 World of Concrete, Concrete Construction editor Bill Palmer will interview Dr. Neil McMurdie and Mr. Kevin Smith from Mapei. The interview will be at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5 in Booth C4587 in the Central Hall.
This presentation will focus on trends in concrete repair and restoration. Palmer will explore with these repair experts why there have been so many concrete repairs that didn’t perform well over the long term. Owners and the public are justifiable exasperated when something has to be repaired multiple times. Do we now have the knowledge today to make durable repairs to concrete structures? Can we actually make repairs today that are better than the original structure? Should owners consider a proactive approach to restoration, making restoration decisions and taking action even before any deterioration is visible?
Making a structure perform well is one thing, but if the aesthetics are damaged by the repair, the owner still won’t be happy. Are we advancing in being able to make aesthetically pleasing repairs? What about strengthening options when a building is under designed or poorly constructed?
Don’t miss this state of the art discussion.
