What are considered to be reasonable surface requirements for residential slabs?
A tolerance of 3/16 inch under a 10-foot straightedge should be acceptable. Residential slab surfaces should be hard and nondusting regardless of whether they are to be left exposed or covered. Surfaces to be left exposed, or covered with tile, should be troweled twice. A single troweling is usually regarded as sufficient for floors which are to be covered with rugs.
