What effect does the new ACI Building Code have on reinforcing steel requirements for tilt-up?
The new 1971 ACI Building Code virtually ignores tilt-up construction and provides very little guidance. Although the Code talks about the minimum steel needed for a wall, the information cannot always be applied to tilt-up work. Ordinarily the amount of reinforcement required in a wall is about the same as in the previous Code. However, the Code sidesteps the problem of slender members like tilt-up walls.
