When we are particularly concerned about getting concrete to flow well around the steel and to respond satisfactorily to vibration we would like to do whatever we can to minimize loss of slump. Is it true that Type II cement can be used for architectural concrete and would be helpful for this purpose?
There may be some advantage in using Type II cement because it is likely to have low slump loss. This often makes it easier to place concrete. Type II may not gain strength as rapidly as Type I up to age 28 days but its ultimate strength should be higher.
