Artistic Renovation

McCarthy Building Cos., Inc. was chosen as the concrete subcontractor for the Saint Louis Art Museum expansion and renovation because of the company’s extensive concrete experience.

The interior concourse ceiling in the lower level of the garage was placed using oversized plywood to avoid form joints in the finished concrete.

The interior of level two of the garage shows the cast-in-place ceiling floor and columns.

The coffered ceiling features a 4X9X4-ft grid pattern with 12-in.-wide beams. McCarthy cast all the concrete for the roof beams in place.

The concrete for the coffered ceiling was poured in 10 segments.
