Breaking History

Kevin Durbin, a supervisor for The Berg Corp., chose from their fleet of a half-dozen Brokk models to complete each phase of bracing and demolition. His choices focused on getting the strongest hydraulic capabilities possible for each weight-restricted area.

The 260 offers 19 feet of reach from its 5-foot-high, 3.9-foot-wide body while the breaker exerts 450 foot-pounds of energy —more than the force of a .25-20 Winchester rifle — to break the slabs.

Berg’s team had better physical safety since the equipment was remote-controlled it allowed them to operate the machines from wherever conditions were safest — either right next to the machine or several feet away.
