Concrete Engravings

Renovated prairie-style residence with commercial extension showcases concrete engravings.

The north side of the residence depicts a caribou symbolizing earth.

All the concrete panels were individually engraved by hand within 15 minutes.

The south view of the residence and commercial building showcases engravings of fire displayed by the sun.

The west wall is engraved with fish and a whale, depicting water.

Christopher Griffin used African mud huts and their child-like icons as inspiration for his engravings.

Griffin used a 14-inch bone knife to carve the sun into concrete panels that would be placed on the exterior of his home.

Fly ash concrete was used for its sustainability as well as ease for engraving.
