In recent years, insulating concrete forms (ICFs) have been recognized as an energy efficient building product for both residential and commercial applications.

In order to address the manufacturing quality of a wide variety of ICF, the ASTM International Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings developed a new standard, ASTM E2634, Specification for Flat Wall Insulating Concrete Form Systems.

According to ASTM officials, the E2634 will provide minimum quality standards and ensure that an ICF conforms to the standard to meet building code requirements. Building officials will use the standard as an enforcement tools as well as architects to ensure the ICFs meet minimum standards.
