The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association has taken advantage of technological advances to update not only its Concrete Delivery Professional (CDP) certification program but also to pass the savings onto producers. CDP is now online, self-directed, self-paced and lower in price. It also documents and measures training for Occupational Safety and Health Administration and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recordkeeping, a prime concern for all producers. Accessible 24 hours a day in bite-sized 10- to 20-minute chunks, CDP Online can train drivers between loads, plant maintenance duties and bad weather days. The exam is also delivered online so no proctors are needed. A driver gets his/her results immediately.
In addition, NRMCA has developed a brief, online introduction/FAQ to the CDP program that addresses the basics of the program in just 11 minutes. Other sample clips of each study unit can be viewed in high definition on NRMCA’s Web site and You Tube.
Since its release January 1, 2010, more than 700 drivers have completed the new program. With smaller driver pools, producers report CDP certification is a now critical marketing tool to customers, exemplifying that their drivers are nationally recognized for their knowledge, giving producers a leg-up on their competition.
Founded in 1930, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s mission is to represent the entire ready mixed concrete industry through leadership, promotion, advocacy, education and partnering. NRMCA represents over 1,500 manufacturers of concrete and 50+ state affiliate organizations. Approximately 85% of NRMCA’s members are classic American family-owned small businesses.
