Concrete that lets light pass, using optical fibers, has been around for a few years. Decorative concrete contractors have come up with ways to install fiber optics with lights. Taken a step further, Luccon now has concrete blocks that can be installed to allow one to basically see through the concrete. The ¾-inch-thick translucent blocks come in various sizes up to 100x28 inches and allow shadows and even color to be seen from the other side. The blocks are made of layers of light-transmitting fabric in a cement-mortar matrix. Check it out at www.luccon.com.
